HANDCRAFTED WOODEN EGGS CRAFTED by JOHN VAN DER WESTHUIZEN. I urge the reader to please visit the Home Page to obtain details on John van der Westhuizen.
These beautiful wooden hen eggs come in a variety of indigenous woods (African). Each one is turned (by hand on a lathe) to 'egg' size and shape perfection. They are all numbered according to the South African tree species. 'Knots' and cracks in the eggs are natural occurrences in the woods and this should not be considered faulty. Wood is a 'living thing' As woods age, the beautiful colors deepen and 'mellow'. A set of these egg were presented to the King and Queen of Sweden in 2012 and they grace many homes and establishments.
Wooden bowls for the eggs can also be purchased, the bowls are also in indigenous woods with lovely grains and finishes. Prices for the bowls depends on bowl size and availability of the woods. A popular order is a bowl with twelve eggs (see images). Please message me for special requests, sizes, shapes, woods, etc.
